Emirates Steel, the largest integrated steel plant in the UAE, owned by SENAAT, participated in the UAE 2016 Earth Hour celebrations through launching an awareness campaign within its team members that involve more than 2,000 employees.
The participation comes in line with Emirates Steel commitment towards community and to preserve the environment and raise its team’s awareness of global warming, and the need to protect the environment and save energy.
Asa priority, Emirates Steel attempts to minimize the environmental impact of its industrial activities in different stages of its operations process, and to achieve this, the company continues to adopt the latest innovations in energy efficiency and sustainable practices.
Emirates Steel also takes into consideration sustainability issues within its various operations, and developed a life cycle economic model that examines environmental and cost of its process in its aim to control and minimize the environmental impacts.
The company enjoys a record of environmental initiatives and strategic partnerships that aims at reducing the environmental results of its industrial operations, such as the fir. CO2 capture, usage and storage project in the Middle East, a strategic partnership with Masdar and ADNOC, The core objective of the project is to utilize the CO2 generated by Emirates Steel plants and use it for enhanced oil recovery, the project will liberate precious natural gas used to pressurize oil wells and aid oil recovery and use it for traditional power generation and water desalination.
