Emirates Steel signs MoU with Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute
5th March 2019, Abu Dhabi, UAE: Emirates Steel, the only integrated steel plant in the UAE and a subsidiary of the General Holding Corporation (SENAAT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute (ADVETI). The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation and collaboration between the two entities with the aim of enhancing the education services available in Abu Dhabi Emirate, in line with Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision.
Commenting on the signing of the MoU, Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, CEO of Emirates Steel, said: “Emirates Steel is committed to developing the next generation of Emirati industry leaders. Through this agreement with ADVETI we look forward to establishing a long-term partnership, based upon areas of mutual interest, and contributing to the creation of innovative training programs that prepare talented UAE Nationals for a wide variety of positions within the UAE’s growing industrial sector.”

The MoU between Emirates Steel and ADVETI aims to enable both parties to proactively identify, design, develop and deploy innovative training programs that cater to the needs of the industrial sector. The agreement covers science and innovation, training and development, locally and internationally recognized certifications, and the transfer of knowledge and expertise required for the creation of specialized education programs.
Currently, Emirates Steel employs more than 2,200 personnel across all divisions and facilities, with approximately 21% of the workforce composed of UAE Nationals. The company plans to increase its overall Emiratization ratio to 23% by the end of 2019, and the establishment of partnerships with educational institutions such as ADVETI play a key role in ensuring the availability of qualified national cadres.
